The social space does not pre-exist the relations that are formed in it; indeed, the space is only constructed by drawing the lines that form immanent relations. Deleuze and Guattari can only make this social space available by actively constructing immanent relations themselves.

Yet intensity will not be produced by a group of sterile objects lying alongside each other. Secondly, they need to interact and affect each other they need to acquire consistency. Something must happen, and something must be produced. This involves extracting terms from their social and cultural contexts that render them sterile and inactive, and Page 4 assembling them into a constructive machine that is capable of producing something.
